For generations, the sound of bagpipes has echoed through ceremonies of mourning—a call of remembrance that transcends words. This sculpture captures that haunting tradition within the Fresno Sheriff’s Memorial, which honors 21 members who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. The figure’s quiet dignity resonates across the site, evoking reverence, unity, and reflection.
Bagpipe Player is a portrait of the officer who has long served as piper at the funerals of his fallen colleagues. Every detail of his uniform, from the insignia to the folds of the tartan, is faithfully rendered in bronze, symbolizing devotion and respect. More than a likeness, the work stands as a tribute to ritual, remembrance, and the solemn beauty of service.
